My favorite colors are purple and green. I love to read and sing. I write poetry and short stories. I belong to the Episcopal Church and the ACLU and the Democratic Party. I have three dogs and two cats. I was with my last partner 28 years. She died of a cerebral hemorrhage in April 2014. I like to fish and swim. I enjoy going to the zoo, museum, and I even like going to a water park. I adore live theatre, and I like live music if it is presented in an intimate setting--don't care for big, noisy, loud concerts with light shows. I love many kinds of music, everything from New Age to Sacred Harp. I sing and play an autoharp, some piano, some dulcimer, some recorder. I sing in my church choir. When I am in love, the world no longer interests me, and my body responds so stereotypically: I can't eat, can't sleep, can't concentrate, feel like I'm walking through a cloud. I love hard, a fact that has many times beaten me down, but I don't know how to do it differently. I never could "hit and run" with a woman. If I wanted her, I wanted her completely and forever. I couldn't kiss her enough times, or hold her long enough. I couldn't tell her enough times how I loved her and only her. I wanted to give her things that pleased her, I wanted to make her laugh. I wanted to share my favorite things and people with her. I wanted to grow as close to her as it was possible to do, until we finished each other's sentences or didn't have to talk at all. I wanted us to forget what our bodies felt like without each other's embraces. I hear that this kind of love is not possible anymore, but I will continue searching for it. There isn't much point in anything less.
