I Would Describe Myself As

Language and ideas are important. Describe your ideas well enough and the world is made different, a co-created version, the child of our thoughts and opinions. Will it try to eat us, or bring joy? Everyone here is an optimist. Mysteries are fewer now, though still actively sought and embraced. Pondering is preferred. Popular religions might shelter for a life time, if satisfied with the view and nothing more comes to mind. World music can deliver a thousand years of sorrows and joy in single mind-boggling portions, carrying us somewhere we can't go without paying full fare. I've played bagpipes in a band. Recently rebuilt an old Seagull guitar, currently earning callouses ( finger-style Bossa Nova is where it's at!). Plants, especially ferns, bamboo and enormous trees are important pleasures. Vegetable gardening is an inter-species relationship, easier than cats and usually better in my soup. Antique shops offer what we can never be again; ideas made even more intriguing after a black beer at the "Green Dragon." Coffee shops and weird little restaurants are best when it's raining and the conversation means going home tired, but remembering how good it was. I bike regularly, a visiting pace, learning, greeting, but I've missed a lot along the way, and there's that Buddhist notion of "pressing desire to know." Anything you might care to point out along the way, all impressions, gratefully received. I've been running my own business for 17 years. I am still not wealthy (Elon must have cheated somehow?), but have always had enough to satisfy needs, responsibilities and some desires. Self-volition is important to me. Testing, creating, making it happen, has offered opportunity for self-discovery, realizing potential and limitations. I enjoy occasionally, though don't spend a lot of time, "camping, climbing mountains, walking on the beach or horse riding, naked through the surf. European cathedrals, chalets and gondolas are never far from mind, but my personal perspective is generally more provincial. The finest experience of life was knowing another person well; looking across a room into eyes that shared secret thoughts, defining one another with loving compassion and desire. There's nothing better than that and I miss it. I'm a "long term" personality, had a wonderful 20 year marriage and at times, wonder if anyone has more than that coming in a single lifetime. Maybe. Meanwhile, I hope everyone gets some of the good stuff along the way.
