I moved to the DMV from Fredericksburg a few months ago. Now I'm in the middle of revisiting old passions (like dancing the salsa and bachata), forming new hobbies (like hiking), and seeing who I become at the end of this new beginning.
My parents are from the Philippines. I was born here. I can speak some of the language, but I have an accent and still often make grammatical mistakes. Now I make my life working with immigrants like them, helping immigrants build their lives in this country.
Otherwise, I like to explore new areas, read foreign books, and study Tagalog by watching its movies and listening to its music. I also enjoy visual art and contemporary poetry - the bad kind of poetry where there it's less studied and stylish, and more driven by pure emotion.
Basically, I'm a teacher. I live in an apartment with my cat. I'm chubby but I'm becoming more active to lose this weight.
