Going to an exotic restaurant, the strangest food we can think of that doesn't sound disgusting. Or conversely a greasy spoon in an out-of the-way spot. Finding the worst movie out there so we can goof on it. Going to a concert. Going to a comedy club- or in that vein going to check out aspiring comedians at an open mic night. If they're awful, we can cringe together! Going hiking somewhere where for just a little while it'll be quiet and still and we won't see anybody and can forget we live in a big metropolitan area. Going out somewhere in the country and putting the GPS on the "least use of highways" setting. Going to an obscure or esoteric museum or historical spot. Going to a thrift store and looking for the most hideous or weird piece of bric-a-brac we can find. Canoeing or kayaking in an out of the way setting. Exploring the "ghost towns" of the DC area. Taking a scenic railroad trip. Going to a bull roast, chicken dinner, crab, oyster or shrimp feast at a volunteer fire department or VFW, Knights of Columbus, etc. Any live sporting event, or going to a sports bar to watch your or my favorite teams play. Shooting pool. Going to the Eastern Shore but not OC, Rehoboth or Dewey. I love to eat and dinner always works, but let's make it interesting. This way, if you don't dig me, at least you can say we did something out of the ordinary
